UFC president Dana White insists he can't call Khabib Nurmagomedov the greatest MMA fighter of all time because he retired "too early".
Former
UFC lightweight champion Nurmagomedov is considered one of, if not the,
greatest fighters to ever step foot in the cage. The Russian went
unbeaten in 29 professional fights, finishing his career in late 2020
with a first-round submission win over interim champion Justin Gaethje.
Nurmagomedov promised his mother he wouldn't fight again following the
death of his father and coach Abdulmanap.
His decision to retire
at the peak of his career has meant some fans have questioned his status
as the greatest fighter ever. With Nurmagomedov calling it quits before
facing top lightweights such as Charles Oliveira, UFC boss White thinks
the Russian retired too soon.
